Welcome to L.I.N.K.!
We're excited to have you join this amazing ministry that God has laid upon our hearts!
L.I.N.K. serves the Northeast Kansas area with the stated purpose, "to provide Christ-centered fellowship and activities for Home educating families throughout the Northeast Kansas region; to reach out to all Christian homeschooling families, providing them with information as to activities and resources available in the area; to unite the experience of seasoned homeschoolers with the enthusiasm of beginning homeschoolers; to provide home school endeavors such as co-operative learning and instructing opportunities as well as fellowship and mentoring experiences; to glorify Jesus Christ in all that we do."
We look forward to fulfilling this ministry that God has set before us to help and support in any way we can and to encourage other homeschoolers. We look for opportunities to continue expanding our support and ministry to the community, and prayerfully seek family involvement.
We offer up-to-date information about homeschooling endeavors on our Facebook and by email.
We also will be hosting a variety of weekly or bi-weekly activities to include, a semester-long 13-week Co-Op in the Fall and Spring, and occasionally, various afternoon clubs. All events and activities will meet at 525 Dawson Street in Easton, Kansas in the Hillside Honey Heritage Center, lovingly referred to as the 'Old School'.
In order to function as a full cooperative effort, we ask that families participating are able to help make this ministry truly reflect the idea that 'many hands make light work'! Therefore, we have a few expectations to be aware of, as your family considers committing to being an active member of L.I.N.K.
Co-op families are expected to:
-Fill a teaching role in one class per school year, either in the Fall or Spring semester (there are a wide range of ways to fill a teaching role and we will help offer resources, advice and support if this is new territory for you as a Home educator helping with a large group).
- Assist or teach for two of the three hours of co-op.
- This allows a full free hour for every educator to fellowship with other home educators in our Curriculum library or 'break room'. After all, even we need a break!
Co-op families are asked to make a donation towards our high demand for paper supplies throughout the semester (paper towels, cups, plates or napkins) at the first Student Co-op day. To keep everything neat and tidy in such a large building, every week 2-3 families will stay for 30 minutes afterward and help in participating in the clean-up schedule (sign-up will be at Co-op registration to pick days convenient for your family).
Our Co-op day meets Wednesday from 9:15am-12:30pm. All teachers may enter the building at 8:00am, for class set-up. Families are encouraged to be a good role model and not be late to opening ceremony and prayer at 9:15am.
Our Home School Curriculum Library will have books and curriculum available for checkout in 2 week or 14 week long increments (depending on literature verses curriculum). Our L.I.N.K. Librarian has further details available.
We look forward to future generations growing up together as they are learning and being instructed in God's truths, and we look forward to meeting you soon. Welcome!
God Bless your home school,
L.I.N.K. Steering Committee and families
